The Police have arrested Kampala socialite and businessman Emmanuel Lwasa over forgery.

According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, Lwasa was arrested on Monday at 4:00pm from his office at Najja Shopping Centre, Najjanankumbi.

He is accused of forging the signatures of two officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

Owoyesigyire said Lwasa forged the signatures of Ag. Director Geological survey and mines (Ag. D/GSM) Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development Alaba Agnes and that of Grace Lajwe Principal Chemist Directorate of Geological survey and mines (DGSM).

Lwasa reportedly forged the signatures through his two companies; Trans Equator Miners Ltd and Trade Pannel International Limited. Both companies are involved in trade of gold.

“Police Minerals Protection Unit (PMPU) is investigating a number of companies forging the signature of Alaba Agnes and many other suspects are yet to be arrested,” Owoyesigyire said.

This is not the first time; the tycoon is being arrested.  In January, the businessman was arrested over fraud and obtaining money by false pretense when he sold fake gold worth millions of shillings to a Chinese national.

He was later released on police bond.

Who is Lwasa

Lwasa owns several businesses both in Kampala and Masaka. His businesses include Tavern kick club, Lwasa proms & events, Lwasa traders ug. Ltd.

He describes himself as a stylist, dad and “self-made tycoon from scratch.
